Helping the Elderly of our Community
by James Ellington, almost 4 years agoI have been helping with Meals On Wheels deliveries for several years now but am finding that with the COVID 19 quarantine recommendations, I am thoroughly enjoying the routine of helping "clients" two or three days a week. In place of the actual food deliveries like we helped with before this pandemic, we are now making welfare phone calls to the recipients and reporting any problems or issues back to the Visiting Nurses association (VNA). In my opinion, Meals on Wheels is an incredible charity run by a very compassionate and friendly staff and is doing a great service for... Continue reading

Friendship will outlast viruses
by CedarHillChamber, about 4 years agoThis morning after getting my coffee. I saw these two friends sitting in the parking lot. They have met together for years. But they couldn’t have their Whataburger coffee inside so they decided to enjoy some sun and maintain social distance. I stopped to ask if I could take their picture for this page and we ended up talking for over 20 minutes. All about faith, family, friends, and folks we all had in common. The man on the left works for a chamber member here in town and the man on the right is a retired restaurant owner, I’d... Continue reading

Sometimes all we need is a PUSH!
by Rosemary Ruiz, about 4 years agoRuiz Financial Solutions was birthed in a time of a loss for us. In 2008 the economy tanked and both my husband and I lost our jobs. This was right after we had just purchased our first home here in Cedar Hill and right before Christmas time.
God took us through a Journey of Faith. Where we are today is a reflection of the decisions we made during the tough times. We made a decision to Trust God and move on those dreams He has placed in our heart. This is a season where many of us can focus on... Continue reading

April Showers Bring May Flowers
by ewoodbury, about 4 years agoAfter driving through downtown on the way to the bank, I made a post on social media about the beautiful irises I saw blooming at so many houses. I lamented that I could not reach out to anyone due to the social distancing to ask if they may be willing to share a flower or two as I work on my own garden. Irises are my favorite flower, and I was worried that they did not grow in this zone when I moved here from New Hampshire. I was delighted to see they still thrived despite the heat, and even... Sowing Seeds
by Jen & Matt Chappel, about 4 years agoEvery day we are asking ourselves, “Is this real life?” Yup! It is! We are making the most of our time at home by working on some exciting DIY projects and, most importantly, our little garden. When we lived in McKinney, TX we were on the founding executive board of the McKinney Community Garden Association. We loved being a part of this project because we were able to serve our community by growing crops to share with the surrounding neighborhoods in need. We always harvested and saved our own seeds so that we could share them with friends and family... Continue reading
