On May 14, 2022, the City Council will break ground on the new community pool - the Lagoon at Virginia Weaver Park! Join us from noon to 2 p.m. at Virginia Weaver Park (631 Somerset) for free food, family activities, and live entertainment.
The new pool will feature almost 10,000 square feet of water surface, including a zero-depth entry pool, a separate lap swim pool, a lazy river and three-turn slide, and a splash feature.
Background Information In November 2017, voters approved funding to build a new outdoor pool to replace the existing pool at Crawford Park. In 2018, the City began the design process for the pool, which included site analysis and selection. The site analysis assesses environmental conditions, potential impacts to existing programs and amenities, and other site-specific considerations. Based on this analysis and input from the City Council, Parks Board, and citizens, Virginia Weaver Park was selected as the location for the new pool.
The City received a grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife for $750,000 towards the construction cost. The pool was designed after broad public input from the community, which drove the selection of amenities.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on potential locations for the community pool! All comments submitted will be shared with the city council as they consider location options for the pool.
Background Information
This spring, City staff and the pool design consultants conducted public meetings to engage stakeholders and gather input on the programs and features that are top community priorities for the new outdoor pool. Based on this feedback the consultants have conducted a site analysis for the new pool to assess environmental conditions, potential impacts to existing programs and amenities, and other site-specific requirements or restraints. Based on this analysis, following sites are under consideration for the new pool:
1) Crawford Park (401 Straus Road)
2) Virginia Weaver Park (631 Somerset Dr)
3) Alan E. Sims Recreation Center (310 W. Parkerville Rd)
CLOSED: This discussion has concluded; thank you for your feedback! The page will be updated when a site is selected.
Was it ever discussed to make it an indoor pool and place it at the rec center? It could be used year round plus have fitness classes and the schools could use it for a swim team.

Update the current pool in Crawford Park to standards and keep it in its location.
It is a part of the distinctive character of Cedar Hill!

I love the idea of the Rec Center or leaving it at Crawford Park. Crawford would need improvements to support the pool though.

Please remodel the Crawford Park Pool at the current location. There is no reason to move it to another location. Just have 1 city pool and update the current location that we have.
